Repairing Objects
This topic describes the Migrator’s repair process.
The repair process occurs during the Validate & Stage step. If an object is required by the study design but missing from the source data mapping configuration, the Migrator automatically generates said object. This process ensures that data sent to EDC is complete and matches the study schedule, preventing migration failures.
The Migrator repairs missing objects at the following levels:
- Event Groups
- Events (non-dynamic only)
- Forms (non-dynamic and non-repeating only)
- Item Groups (non-repeating item groups and repeating item groups that contain default data)
- Items
The following rules apply to repaired objects:
- The Migrator does not apply attributes (such as SDV, freeze, lock, or ILB) directly or indirectly to repaired objects.
- You cannot reference a repaired object in the Attributes CSV file.
- Repaired objects are inserted as placeholders and require review by the migrator.
Repairing Event Groups
The Migrator automatically executes the following processes to repair event groups:
- Creates the first event group in the study schedule. This only applies to event groups with static events.
- Creates every event within that new event group.
- Applies the following to repaired events:
- Event Date: Leaves empty
- Event Status: Leaves blank
- Change Reason: Applies a Did Not Occur change reason.
- You cannot directly apply attributes to the repaired events.
- If the casebook is locked or frozen, the attribute inherits down to the lowest applicable object. (i.e., the Log Forms).
- Does not create any forms within the repaired events.
Repairing Repeating Item Groups with Default Data
When repairing repeating item groups that contain default data, the Migrator automatically generates a separate item group for every possible permutation of that data. By default, forms containing repaired item groups remain unsubmitted, and the Migrator preserves any read-only settings for those item groups. The repair process supports form-level attributes such as locked, frozen, SDV, and DMR, but it does not support Visibility Criteria for default data.
